Welcome to Better Conversations

Do you find yourself going from one high stakes meeting to another often needing to quickly absorb information and make decisions?  


Then there's conflict we have to work through with our peers because of misunderstandings or differing opinions and the stress starts to build.  


Throw in the constant change that we experience in the workplace, changes to processes, critical deadlines, changes to organizational structures, and unfortunately some of us also experience layoffs.

Whether it be in our personal lives or at work, how we communicate and how we listen is at the core of everything we do.


Dan is affiliated with the Better Conversations Foundation, a non-profit  founded in the United Kingdom whose mission is to help people around the world have Better Conversations in their professional and private lives. Better Conversations lead to better relationships, better decisions, and better outcomes.

Course Details

What will you learn and how?

The course has five modules that are delivered over a few weeks allowing participants to build on what they learn during each module whilst putting it into practice.  This proven method allows for the techniques to "stick" so that participants don't just walk away and forget about what they've learned, they put it into practice building on the skills in each module.  


The five modules cover - 

  • State - How do your thoughts and feelings affect your conversations?
  • Assumptions - What are you making up when you are in a conversation?
  • Context - How do you bring meaning to a conversation?
  • Listening with Curiosity - How can you influence a conversation?
  • Feedback - How can you respond and communicate your views?


Sessions are a mixture of instruction and practice. You’ll notice the time passes quickly! 


Each module is approx one hour and we can deliver one module per week or two.  Spacing out the course helps participants learn, practice and gain the skills needed to embrace the techniques.


You’ll also be able to contact me between sessions with any questions you might have and put what you’ve learned to work with some practical “fieldwork” in between sessions, if you’d like.


All you'll need is a computer, a headset or headphones and a microphone, and an Internet connection. We recommend you join us from a quiet place where you have privacy and no distractions.
